Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah plastik menjadi tantangan lingkungan yang serius, terutama di wilayah-wilayah dengan kesadaran masyarakat yang masih rendah. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pemanfaatan sampah plastik sebagai bahan dasar kerajinan tangan bernilai ekonomis di Desa Suka Mulia Hulu, Kecamatan Namo Rambe, Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Dengan pendekatan Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR), penelitian ini melibatkan masyarakat lokal dalam pengolahan limbah plastik melalui pelatihan, produksi, dan pemasaran produk daur ulang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan ini mampu meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pengelolaan limbah berkelanjutan, menciptakan peluang ekonomi, serta mengurangi dampak lingkungan. Tantangan utama yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan akses teknologi, infrastruktur digital, dan rendahnya partisipasi masyarakat. Rekomendasi diberikan untuk peningkatan edukasi, penyediaan teknologi modern, dan kolaborasi antara pemerintah serta pihak swasta guna mendukung keberlanjutan program. Dengan strategi holistik, model pemberdayaan berbasis lingkungan ini dapat menjadi solusi efektif dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik yang berkelanjutan.
