The Influence of Inflation, Unemployment and Government Expenditures on the Number of Poor People in North Sumatra Province (2001-2021)

Poverty is a complex problem. Poverty reduction remains an agenda and priority in national development. Various policies, strategies and activities carried out by the government to overcome the problem of poverty. This research aims to examine the influence of Inflation, Unemployment and Government Expenditures on the Number of Poor People in North Sumatra Province for the 2001-2021 period. This research uses data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency. The research data consists of the dependent variable, namely Poverty, and the independent variables, namely Inflation, Human Development Index and Realization A, Unemployment, and Government Expenditures during the 2001-2021 period. The tool or method used in this research is multiple linear regression analysis with the Least Square (LS) method. The results of this research show that inflation has a positive influence on the number of poor people. Meanwhile, unemployment has a positive and significant influence on the number of poor people, government spending has a negative and significant influence on the number of poor people. The results of the F test show that inflation, unemployment and government spending simultaneously have an influence or are jointly significant on the number of poor people in the province of North Sumatra.
