Abstract
This research discusses the history and development of SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency as one of the leading schools in Riau Province. SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency is a school with special qualifications and has privileges compared to other schools of the same level, because this school was specifically established and is guided directly by the Regional Government of Kuantan Singingi Regency. The existence of SMA Negeri Pintar has become an icon of education in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The purpose of this research is to find out the history of SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency, examine the development of SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency in 2007-2017, and determine the impact of SMA Negeri Pintar in education, social culture and government in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The method used is a historical method which includes heuristic, verification, interpretation and historiography stages. The results of the research show that the establishment of the Kuantan Singingi Regency Smart State High School was born from the wishes of the Regent of Kuantan Singingi Regency for the 2006-2011 period, H. Sukarmis, who wanted to establish a superior school specifically for outstanding students in Kuantan Singingi Regency. Since its inception in 2007 to 2017, SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency has experienced developments in various aspects, including infrastructure, curriculum, students, teachers and achievements. In its development, SMA Negeri Pintar Kuantan Singingi Regency has had an impact on the world of education, social culture and government in Kuantan Singingi Regency.
