Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Ekstrak Daun Salam (Syzygium Polyanthum)terhadap (Pseudomonas aeruginosa)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun salam (Syzygium polyantum) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa secara in vitro. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen laboratorium dengan teknik disc diffusion untuk mengamati daya hambat ekstrak terhadap bakteri uji. Ekstrak daun salam diperoleh melalui metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Aktivitas antibakteri ditentukan berdasarkan pengukuran diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk di sekitar cakram kertas pada media Nutrient Agar yang telah diinokulasi bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Kloramfenikol digunakan sebagai kontrol positif, sedangkan etanol 96% digunakan sebagai kontrol negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun salam mampu membentuk zona hambat, yang menandakan adanya aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Meskipun daya hambat yang dihasilkan masih lebih rendah dibandingkan kontrol positif, ekstrak daun salam memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri alami. Dengan demikian, ekstrak daun salam berpeluang dikembangkan sebagai alternatif bahan antibakteri berbasis alam.
