Abstract
Islamic Religious Education in junior high school is a crucial aspect in shaping students' character and spiritual understanding. This study aims to analyze the needs and develop digital teaching materials based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) for Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMPN 21 Bandung. The research method used was a qualitative study with a descriptive analysis approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, analysis of curriculum documents, and observation of existing learning practices at school. A needs analysis was conducted to evaluate the challenges and opportunities in implementing PjBL in the context of religious education in secondary schools. The results showed that the development of digital teaching materials integrating the PjBL method at SMPN 21 Bandung has great potential to increase student engagement and deepen their understanding of Islamic values. Students can be more active in building projects related to Islamic teachings, as well as applying these values in daily life. This research contributes to designing relevant and effective teaching materials to support religious education at the junior high school level, utilizing digital technology and collaborative learning approaches. The implications of this research can help curriculum developers and teachers in improving the quality of learning. project-based Islamic religion at SMPN 21 Bandung.
