Abstract

Sastra merupakan gambaran tentang realitas sosial yang dialami oleh pengarang. Salah satu sastra yang memiliki makna mendalam dari dalam diri pengarang adalah puisi. Puisi "Menghadapi Maut" karya Sutan Takdir Alihsajbana merupakan salah satu puisi yang menggambarkan realitas sosial Indonesia sebagai negara jajahan bangsa Eropa. Penjajahan di Indonesia selama kurang lebih tiga abad memiliki dampak yang besar bagi tatanan kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia saat ini. Sehingga tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk memberi representasi terhadap penggambaran bentuk-bentuk poskolonial dalam puisi "Menghadapi Maut". Sedangkan metode penelitian yang digunakan menggunakan pendekatan kualitas-deskriptif dengan metode analisis data isi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah rakyat Indonesia masih dijajah secara psikis oleh bangsa lain, meskipun bukan dalam bentuk fisik, seperti di bidang politik, hukum, keamanan, ekonomi, birokrasi, serta watak dan sikap para elit politik.
