This study will analyze the historical methods used in understanding the phenomenon of exploration with a spotlight on the use of both primary and secondary sources and the underlying social, political, and economic contexts. Let this be a prelude to further reinforce the understanding of the dynamics of oceanic exploration as part and parcel of Indonesian history itself, shaping social and cultural identities.
