Berakhirnya hubungan kerja sering menimbulkan persoalan bagi pekerja, terutama ketika hak yang seharusnya diterima tidak diberikan secara layak. Kondisi ini menunjukkan bahwa perlindungan terhadap pekerja dalam praktik belum selalu berjalan sebagaimana mestinya. Tulisan ini mengkaji permasalahan tersebut melalui penelaahan terhadap putusan pengadilan yang berkaitan dengan sengketa pemutusan hubungan kerja serta pemenuhan hak pesangon, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui penelusuran peraturan perundang-undangan, putusan pengadilan, dan literatur yang relevan. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun ketentuan mengenai pesangon telah diatur secara jelas, dalam praktiknya masih ditemukan kondisi di mana pekerja tidak memperoleh haknya secara penuh. Putusan yang dianalisis memperlihatkan adanya upaya untuk memberikan perlindungan kepada pekerja, namun belum sepenuhnya mencerminkan pemenuhan hak secara optimal, sehingga diperlukan penerapan hukum yang lebih konsisten agar perlindungan terhadap pekerja dapat terwujud secara nyata.
