Pelindungan Hukum Indikasi Geografis Potensial Terhadap Gula Aren Genjah Sebagai Upaya Pemberdayaan Ekonomi dan Pelestarian Pengetahuan Lokal di Desa Buluh Awar Kecamatan Sibolangit

Gula aren genjah desa buluh awar merupakan produk lokal yang memiliki ciri khas rasa, warna , dan proses pengolahan yang tradisional yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor alam setempat. Namun, belum adanya pelindungan hukum indikasi geografis menyebabkan produk rentan ditiru oleh pihak luar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelindungan hukum Indikasi Geografis terhadap gula aren genjah sebagai upaya pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat, pelestarian pengetahuan lokal, dan penguatan identitas geografis di Desa Buluh Awar. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan normatif-empiris dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi kepustakaan, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis melalui reduksi data, display data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gula aren genjah buluh awar ini memiliki potensi yang sangat kuat untuk mendapatkan pelindungan hukum indikasi geografis agar terlindungi nama, kualitas, dan reputasinya, serta dapat meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat dan pelestarian pengetahuan lokal.
