History of the Development of the Islamic Religious Education Foundation (YPAIR) in Rengat City, Indragiri Hulu Regency (1942-2021)

Abstract


The Rengat Islamic Religious Foundation (YPAIR) is one of the educational institution in Indragiri Hulu Regency which also brings social change to social life, especially the Rengat community. Founded on March 22 1942. The aim of this research is to determine the history of the establishment, development, supporting and inhibiting factors in the  development of the Rengat Islamic Religious Education Foundation (YPAIR). The method used is the historical method with heuristic, verification, interpretation, and historiography stages. The resul of this research is that the Islamic Religious Education Foundation was founded in 1942. The development that occurred was that there were educational institutions from elementary schools to universities that were under the auspices of this foundation. The main supporting factor is community participation and the main inhibiting factor is technological advances making people start to forget the importance of religious education.
