Analisa Kualitas Penyambungan Kabel Fiber Optik Terhadap Kecepatan Jaringan Internet

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengevaluasi performa jaringan serat optik di wilayah Padang Baru, Sumatera Barat, dengan fokus pada perbandingan antara hasil perhitungan matematis redaman dan hasil pengukuran lapangan. Jaringan serat optik terdiri dari titik-titik penting seperti ODC (Optical Distribution Cabinet), ODP (Optical Distribution Point), dan ONT (Optical Network Terminal). Pengukuran dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan redaman yang terjadi akibat sambungan serat optik menggunakan teknik fusion splicing serta dampaknya terhadap kualitas transmisi sinyal optik dan kecepatan internet. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa pada ODP, nilai pengukuran lapangan sebesar -9,15 dBm lebih tinggi dari hasil perhitungan matematis yang sebesar -8,17 dBm, sementara pada ONT, pengukuran lapangan menunjukkan nilai -23,12 dBm, lebih tinggi dari perhitungan matematis yang sebesar -19,55 dBm. Perbedaan ini disebabkan oleh faktor-faktor seperti kondisi fisik kabel, kualitas sambungan, dan kelonggaran kabel (slack). Upaya perbaikan, seperti merapikan kabel dan optimasi sambungan, berhasil mengurangi redaman hingga nilai -20,80 dBm pada ONT, meskipun redaman masih terdeteksi. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam pemeliharaan dan optimasi jaringan serat optik untuk memastikan kualitas layanan yang lebih baik bagi pengguna akhir.
