Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dalam dua dekade terakhir telah mengubah hampir seluruh aspek kehidupan manusia, termasuk dunia pendidikan. Di era digitalisasi, smartphone bukan lagi sekadar alat komunikasi; ia menjadi pintu gerbang akses informasi, sumber belajar, media komunikasi, serta sarana hiburan. Bagi pelajar SMP, terutama generasi Z yang tumbuh bersama gawai, smartphone merupakan benda yang sangat akrab digunakan untuk mencari referensi tugas, berkomunikasi dengan teman dan guru, mengikuti kelas daring, hingga menonton video pembelajaran. Namun di sisi lain, smartphone juga menghadirkan tantangan berupa distraksi, penyebaran informasi yang tidak terverifikasi, hingga potensi terganggunya etika dan kesehatan mental siswa.
